Lesley and Alex Maternity Portraits

I spent an evening last week photographing my friends Alex and Lesley for their maternity photos at Tallac Historic Site, and it might be one of my favorite sessions.

We started in the woods, meandering between the trees and watching the light filter through the branches. Then we wandered over to the historic buildings, using all that old wood and character as a backdrop. There's something about those weathered structures that makes you feel like you're in another time.

But the real magic happened down on the beach as the sun started to set. The light turned soft and golden, and the water was perfectly warm for late August. We couldn't resist. All three of us dipped our feet in, and that ended up giving us some of the best captures of the whole shoot. A little spontaneity always makes a session feel real instead of posed.

Alex and Lesley (especially Lesley) were such troopers, climbing over roots and laughing through wardrobe changes, and it showed in every frame. Sessions like this are exactly why I stay motivated. Congratulations to you both, I cannot wait for you to meet this baby.
